Disney Star, Demi Lovato will be casted in the role of Jade Hannigan, a foster child of Shirley Smith, the cancer patient that bonds with Elizabeth. Jade will be introduced as Shirley foster daughter who visits Port Charles and eventually attends Madison Academy thanks to Shirley. She will befriend Michael and be a rival for Zoe for Michael attention. Jade is a nice girl who lives life without any regrets and she will bond with Robin as more of her background is revealed and a connection to Port Charles will eventually keep her in town for the forseeable future. Jade is a recurring character

The veteran actress Michael Learned (from the Waltons) will grace General Hospital as Shirley Smith, a cancer patient that bonds with Elizabeth. She will jump start many storylines that involve, Liz, Luke, Robin and even Spinelli. Her stint is very short term but her appearance will echo throughout the town.

Davetta Sherwood (ex Lily Winters of Y&R) will be casted as Lainey Winters's younger sister Summer Winters. Summer comes to town to see her sister after she was attacked by patient and put into a coma. Summer will be PCPD's newest Detective and will try and solve the attacks on the woman of Port Charles. Summer is fiesty and tough and is use to taking care of herself. She is focused on her job and career but love maybe around the corner. Summer will be a recurring role.

Adrianne Leone returns as Brook Lynn Ashton and she brings a major surprise with her. Brook Lynn arrival will put some angst for Lulu and Dante as Dante and Brook dated after she left Port Charles the first time. Its not all about Dante though Brook Lynn wants to reignite L&B records but her reemerging feelings for her ex beau Dante may put a hault on that as grandma Tracy will not have another Corinthos claim another Quatermaine. Brook is a contract character.
